FAMILIARITY OF THE OFFENSE BY TE RANDY PITTMAN JR.
I hated that Florida State was not able to secure the signing of former four-star tight end prospect Randy Pittman Jr. when he was in high school. He was committed to the Seminoles for quite some time, but he ended up signing with current offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn and the UCF Knights.
The tight end position has been something that head football coach Mike Norvell has utilized in his offenses due to their versatility of being in-line blockers as well as receiving options on the outside and in the slot.
With that said, tight ends Landen Thomas and Amaree Williams were bright spots last year in a darkness that was the 2024 season. However, the Seminoles went out and added Pittman Jr. this offseason, who had 32 receptions for 416 yards and two touchdowns last season.
The biggest factor is that Pittman Jr. knows how to operate in Gus Malzahn's offense since he has been with their program for two seasons and improved his production each year. It helps having someone in the offense who has been there and done now with Coach Malzahn.
This should be a big help for his teammates as well as giving his quarterback another safe option to rely on when times get tough.
