Three games on the Seminoles' football schedule that will define the 2025 season

This could define FSU football's 2025 season.

FSU FOOTBALL OUTLOOK

Florida State football had a forgettable 2024 campaign, where it limped to the finish line with a 2-10 record. The truth of the matter is that this is not the standard of a proud Seminole program that is used to competing for conference and national championships.

Head football coach Mike Norvell has a 2025 season where the fan base expects him to win early and often. The over/under win total according to DraftKings is listed at 6.5. That is a bit low in my opinion, but I know that the oddsmakers might be out on the Seminoles after the disaster last year.

Nonetheless, I want to highlight three games on the Seminoles' 2025 football schedule that could define their season.

ALABAMA

Quarterback Thomas Castellanos already gave the bulletin board material this offseason, as the general public is eating the comments up. I know that the former UCF and Boston College signal-caller is a confident young man, but it makes it even more important to win the season opener.

VIRGINIA

Florida State has to play the Virginia Cavaliers in a tricky road game on Friday night. Thankfully, the Seminoles play East Texas A&M and Kent State after the season opener versus Alabama to get their comfort level. However, this will be a game that the Seminoles need to win to at least go 3-1 (hopefully 4-0) into the contest versus arch-rival Miami.

MIAMI

This game should just mean more. I know that it has an impact in terms of bragging rights, but it could also help head football coach Mike Norvell secure more highly-touted prospects in South Florida over Mario Cristobal and the Hurricanes. It would be a huge confidence booster for the Seminoles to start the season with at least a 4-1 record.

THOUGHTS

I get that games versus Clemson, North Carolina State, and Florida are equally as important, but the Seminoles need to win quickly and start fast during the year to give themselves a cushion to be successful for a tougher latter portion of the season.

Overall, I am extremely excited that we only have seven more Saturdays remaining until Florida State football is back in action. I cannot wait to do the Warchant in Doak Campbell Stadium this season as I cheer the Seminoles on to victory.
