Thoughts about the new jersey numbers.

DB ZAE THOMAS

Florida State had a phenomenal 2024 recruiting class, given the amount of adversity that they faced with a 2-10 record. The Seminoles were able to grab a ton of high school talent that could be special for the program in the years to come.

One prospect that I am excited about is four-star defensive back signee Gregory "Zae" Thomas from the powerhouse program American Heritage High School. It certainly helps that defensive backs coach Patrick Surtain Sr. used to be the head football coach there at the school.

While I understand that Thomas is a summer enrollee, I believe that he should be in play for the No. 2 jersey number. I know that the Seminoles have it retired for the legendary Deion Sanders. However, this might be a special occasion. For reference, Thomas is the first member of the Seminole Tribe to sign and be on scholarship for Florida State.

No one on the team wears the No. 2 jersey number at this time. More than likely, the defensive back will probably get another jersey number other than 2, but I guess we can dream as he looks to have a productive career in Tallahassee.
