The Florida Gators conducted their spring game on Saturday, and Florida State fans have expressed their frustrations with not having their own edition. Spring games seem to be slowly going away, which makes me sad because it used to be so exciting in Doak Campbell Stadium during a random April weekend that college football would be bad before you know it.
There were 47,000 fans in attendance for the spring game in Ben Hill Griffin Stadium on Saturday. The arch-rival Gators welcome in a new head football coach Jon Sumrall. We have already seen the cringy antics that he has done this offseason, such as posting up with a live gator on social media.
The Gators are coming off an abysmal 2025 campaign, in which they didn't make a bowl game. Still, they are selling the energy from Coach Sumrall, while the Seminoles have negativity surrounding the program, with head coach Mike Norvell in danger of being fired.
The Florida Gators could be a team to watch for in the SEC if they get something from their quarterback play
Florida State is having a quarterback battle between Ashton Daniels and Kevin Sperry, while the Florida Gators have their battle between Aaron Philo and Tramell Jones Jr.
Daniels looks to be the favorite in Florida State's position battle, while Philo was the favorite in Florida's. However, on Saturday, Jones Jr. got the best of Philo, completing 13 of his 17 passes for 210 yards and two touchdowns.

Jones: 13/17, 210 YDS 2 TD
Philo: 21/28, 193 YDS 2 TD 2 INTs

For those that remember, Tramell Jones Jr. was a former Florida State quarterback commit before flipping over to the Florida Gators. I will still never understand prospects flipping over to rival schools, but I guess they have to do what's best for them.
Plot twist: I despise the color orange.
If Florida is having questions at the most important position on the team, that serves as good news for the Florida State Seminoles, as they hope to win as many games as possible to have a productive 2026 season. With that said, there is still a long way between now and when the Seminoles and Gators play each other on Friday, November 27th, in Doak Campbell Stadium.
