Florida's social media team needs to try harder to make Jon Sumrall cool

This was a tough video to watch that arch-rival Florida's social media team posted.

Let me start by saying that I realize that Florida State football has lost two straight to the arch-rival Florida Gators.

Head coach Mike Norvell has inexcusably lost to the Gators last season when the Seminoles were fighting for bowl eligibility. Meanwhile, Florida had nothing to play for except for spoiling Florida State's bowl chances.

Florida running back Jadan Baugh had himself a field day, where he rushed for over 200 rushing yards, but the good news for the Seminoles is that the Gators are welcoming in former Tulane head man Jon Sumrall to lead the program.

It does pain me that Coach Norvell didn't have a chance to redeem himself in the rematch with their former coach, Billy Napier, after the flag-planting fiasco in the 2024 meeting between the two squads.

Florida fans didn't want to see another Group of Five coach after the Billy Napier era went sour, but once it became evident that Lane Kiffin wasn't coming to Gainesville, the university and Jon Sumrall agreed to a deal for him to lead the team.

Sumrall has been successful as a head coach, but this Twitter (X) video of him with a live gator is laughable for Florida State fans.

This is just the kind of cringeworthy post that I expected from the Florida Gators. Sumrall has been a productive coach during his time with Troy and Tulane, where he has compiled a 43-12 overall record (according to sports-reference.com).

Florida has been the victim of dealing with one of the more difficult schedules in all of college football. It is a bit easier to navigate through, but they still have to play Georgia on the neutral site matchup, as well as Auburn, Texas, Missouri, and Florida State on the road.

The Seminoles need to be prepared for what the Gators have to bring to the table. Florida State has to make Jon Sumrall pay for coming into the hostile Doak Campbell Stadium during his first season.
