Florida State football is now twenty weeks away from the 2026 season opener against New Mexico State in Doak Campbell Stadium. This should give excitement to all of those who are ready to do the war chant in the Garnet and Gold.

It might seem like a long time from now, but it will be here before you know it. Unfortunately, the fan base’s morale is at an all-time low after the program has suffered through six losing seasons in eight years.

The administration gave the head coach Mike Norvell another chance to redeem himself by retaining him for the 2026 season. The program has come under scrutiny as losses continue to rise.

Florida State faces criticism about a clip during spring practice

Spring practices are over halfway through, and the Seminoles are trying to figure out who is going to emerge this year.

The media was allowed to come out to practice on Thursday and film certain portions. One video that has gone viral was a drill where the running back runs a wheel route, and the linebacker has to keep up in coverage.

There was a specific clip where the quarterback in the play threw it too early and lead to criticism over it being a “hospital ball”.

Of course, this causes rivals and doubters of the program to speak up about the failures that have been going on since head coach Mike Norvell took over. After this fiasco, I can see why Florida State limits media access to ensure that these events don’t happen again.

While there shouldn't be heightened expectations of the program in 2026, they should be much better than they were last year. However, FanDuel Sportsbook still has the over/under win total at 6.5, which tells me that Vegas continues to be hesitant about Florida State's ability to be successful.
