This is good, but Florida State football had a "boring" February Signing Period

Florida State football has the 19th-best recruiting class in the 2025 cycle. The Early Signing Period has already passed. However, the Seminoles have now approached the February Signing Period. There are not a ton of recruits that sign during this period.

Florida State had three prospects who signed with the Seminoles on Wednesday in four-star offensive tackle Chastan Brown, three-star interior offensive lineman Chavez "Sandman" Thompson, and three-star cornerback Antonio Cromartie Jr.

I like grabbing four-star prospects at the offensive tackle position. It is something that many other colleges pursue. I also get the concern from the fan base since he is only 270 pounds with a 6'7" frame. It screams former offensive tackle Jalen Goss who had the frame but never gained the necessary weight.

Thompson is a 6'1" and 310-pound interior offensive lineman who plays the center position. I know that the fan base wonders who will play the center when center Luke Petitbon graduates. This could be a perfect opportunity for the former Oregon and FIU commit to emerge in that spot.

I get that the fan base gets excited about any legacy recruit who commits to the university. Cornerback Antonio Cromartie Sr. was a good piece with the Seminoles. I realize that Florida State having the new 105-man scholarship limit probably allowed the Seminoles to sign Cromartie Jr.

If they had an 85-man limit, I don't know if Cromartie Jr. was not added as a preferred walk-on. Overall, it has to be exciting that the young defensive back is still growing his body and filling out his frame.

The other four-star prospect that the Seminoles were in consideration with (four-star defensive end Zahir Mathis) signed with Maryland.
