PASS RUSHER COMMITS ELSEWHERE

Florida State football has had a productive 2026 recruiting class, where it ranks as the 11th-best according to the 247Sports Composite after the pickup of four-star defensive lineman Earnest Rankins.

Head football coach Mike Norvell has continued to emphasize shoving Auburn's Hugh Freeze in a locker for recruiting several recruiting targets. The Seminoles had a 2-10 record last season, so the fan base is trying to cling to as much success as possible.

Recruiting has been red-hot this summer with several pledges, but three-star defensive end target Chris Addison from Franklin Parish High School in Winnsboro, Louisiana, committed to Michigan State on Thursday night.

WHO SHOULD BE TARGETED NOW?

Addison was once viewed as someone that the Seminoles could have landed. However, things happen in recruiting where things change rapidly.

The good news is that defensive line coach Terrance Knighton has four commitments in the fold with four-star James Carrington, four-star Earnest Rankins, four-star Tico Crittendon, and three-star Wihtlley Cadeau. As a result, Coach Knighton shouldn't be pressed to take a commitment, just to take a commitment.

Coach Knighton mentioned on social media that he was not done with recruiting at the position. I expect the Seminoles to take five or six prospects on the defensive line. I originally thought that he was discussing three-star Chris Addison, but I wonder if he opened the door for three-star Katrell Webb, who will be deciding on July 4th (today).

I know that fans probably won't be excited about picking up a three-star pass rusher, but Webb is a solid piece from Collins Hill High School in Suwanee, Georgia (yes... the same high school as Travis Hunter).

The defender is deciding between Florida State, Indiana, and Purdue. I know that this recruitment should be a slam dunk for the Seminoles, but it all comes down to seeing if he would be a take. He had a solid junior season where he recorded 68 tackles (29 for loss) and 13 sacks.

Plus, his frame is 6'4" and 235 pounds, which is a solid frame that Coach Knighton can build on.
