These three defensive backs keep getting brought up by DB coach Patrick Surtain

These three could make an impact for Florida State during the 2025 season.

CB SHAMAR ARNOUX

I am a huge fan of the way that defensive back coach Patrick Surtain Sr. constructed the secondary in the 2025 recruiting cycle. One of my favorites was former four-star prospect Shamar Arnoux from Carrollton, Georgia.

The Seminoles were able to flip him away from the Auburn Tigers during the Early Signing Period. Much like some of the other true freshmen on the team, Florida State looks to have gotten a steal out of the Georgia native.

While I understand that there will be some growing pains with the true freshman, it is difficult to deny the talent that he has being a lanky 6'2" cornerback that can be aggressive in the secondary. I am not saying that he will replace Jeremiah Wilson or Ja'Bril Rawls in the starting lineup, but it is encouraging to see Arnoux go to work.

Surtain Sr. met with the media on Thursday afternoon and mentioned that Arnoux had been doing a heck of a job, where has has been making plays. He also explained that he may be finding himself in the lineup soon. Competition is always a good sign for growth in a squad, so I hope that the youngster continues to shine.
