Red Zone Scoring Defense

Red zone scoring defense is where Nebraska saw major improvements in year one under Tony White.

The 2022 Nebraska defense allowed touchdowns 65.85 percent of the time in the red zone. That number improved to allowing only 42.11 percent in 2023. What's incredible was his defense got better in the red zone against winning programs.

Nebraska faced six teams with winning records in 2023 and only allowed touchdowns in the red zone 39.13 percent of the time.

The FSU defense only allowed touchdowns in the red zone 56.86 percent of the time in 2024. I told you they were not as terrible as the overall stats. The problem was they allowed teams to score on plays from outside the red zone.

FSU doesn't face many offenses that I'd consider elite on the 2025 schedule. We could see that red zone touchdown percent dip below 50 percent allowed again.
