3rd Down Conversions Allowed
Third and Kelly and third and fuller were labels were heard from fans because the FSU defense hasn't been great on third downs for most of the last few seasons(2023 was elite).
The same with Nebraska before Tony White. Nebraska allowed 42.37 percent on third down conversions in 2022. White's defense improved that number to 36.67 percent in 2023.
They saw the number of sacks increase from 21 to 32, and 52 percent of the third downs in 2023 were 3rd and 7+. The 2022 Nebraska defense only created 3rd down and 7+ on 45 percent of their third downs.
Admittedly, this could be an area that continues to frustrate FSU fans. Nebraska's third-down conversions allowed was still 35 percent, which was No. 31 nationally.
Ironically, FSU's third-down defense in 2022 allowed conversions 35 percent of the time. However, FSU facing some inexperienced quarterbacks and new offensive coordinators could help FSU in this department.
