FSU FOOTBALL RECRUITING

Florida State football has made noise all summer long with its 2026 recruiting class. The Seminoles finished the 2024 campaign with a 2-10 record. This should not translate to a productive group of high school prospects.

While it is nice to solidify commitments in the summer, it matters if the coaching staff can find a way to be able to sign them in December for the Early Signing Period, especially with the House Settlement, where contracts can start becoming where they are binding.

WHIFF ON THE FOURTH OF JULY?

Florida State missed on a three-star defensive end, Chris Addison, from Franklin Parish High School in Winnsboro, Louisiana, who made his intentions known that he would be pledging to Michigan State after the Seminoles were thought to be the leader in his recruitment.

Then the fan base thought that there might be a possibility of landing three-star defensive end target Katrell Webb from Collins Hill High School in Suwanee, Georgia, instead. Webb hinted on his social media that a Fourth of July decision could be in play. However, it seems like the Georgia native decided to back up the announcement to a later date.

Then, four-star offensive tackle target Wilson Zierer from Rabun Gap, Georgia, will be making his decision between Florida State, Auburn, and Alabama. Individuals thought that Zierer could be announcing today since the Seminoles have picked up more and more steam in his recruitment.

GOOD NEWS COMING SOON?

The program left with zero commitments on the Fourth of July, which is where some of the highly-touted prospects make their intentions known. Should fans be concerned about the lack of activity?

The short answer to this question is no. The Seminoles have been trending in a very positive direction for five-star cornerback target Chauncey Kennon from Booker High School in Sarasota, Florida, who officially visited Florida State during the weekend of June 13th.

He has received crystal ball predictions in favor of Mike Norvell and his team. It should also be mentioned that he will be announcing on July 6th at 5:00 PM EST. I would be shocked if he doesn't choose to be part of the Garnet and Gold.

How could you be angry with not landing someone on the Fourth of July if you could just pick up a five-star defender a few days later?
