Florida State football will be taking on the North Carolina State Wolfpack tonight at 8 PM EST on ESPN in Carter-Finley Stadium. This environment has caused the Seminoles fits over the last twelve meetings, where they have a combined 4-8 record in that time frame.
Luckily for the Seminoles, the Wolfpack have struggled this season, where they are coming off a rough 41-7 road loss to the arch-rival Miami Hurricanes. North Carolina State is probably one of the most inconsistent teams in college football after beating Georgia Tech and then losing that horribly to the Hurricanes.
The Florida State faithful cannot say that much, since they did beat Alabama in the opener and then turn around to lose to a squad like Stanford on the road.
CAN FLORIDA STATE WIN A ROAD GAME?
The real question that many were asking is if Florida State football can win a road game. The Seminoles finished the home slate with a 5-2 record, but have not achieved a road victory since the 2023 meeting against the arch-rival Florida Gators.
That isn't good.
The majority of the fan base is disgusted by the last year and a half of head football coach Mike Norvell. He is almost at the end of his sixth year with the program, and the $54 million buyout hangs over everyone's head.
The Seminoles have faced adversity ever since quarterback Jordan Travis suffered the awful injury against North Alabama. It is time for Florida State football to have something go their way. Maybe it is wishful thinking, but since North Carolina State's defense doesn't have any interest defending the pass (299.9 passing yards allowed per game-last in the FBS according to ESPN Stats and Information), this could be a game where wide receiver Duce Robinson shines.
This will all come down to who wants to be there the most. It looks like this squad could be poised to finish the season strong, but the Seminoles need to focus in and handle their business on the road.
SCORE PREDICTIONS
This is the time when we hope that Carter-Finley Stadium gets emptied out in the third quarter and all you can hear is Florida State fans screaming the war chant. However, the House of Horrors will be something that the Seminoles will have to battle through. It is well appreciated that our very own Griffin Durden took the "reverse jinx" of picking North Carolina State.
Taylor Devers: 30-23 FSU
Kelvin Hunt: 34-27 FSU
Griffin Durden: 34-28 NC State
Michael Wilson: 28-20 FSU
