Puzzling move by an FSU offensive recruiting target committing to a Big Ten school

This is a puzzling move by a legacy recruit that seemed interested in Florida State.

FSU FOOTBALL

Florida State football got off its four-game losing streak, as it defeated the Wake Forest Demon Deacons by a score of 42-7 this past Saturday for its Homecoming matchup. This isn't a chance for me to declare that the Seminoles are "back".

This isn't a Miami fan talking, where when it hits November, you never know what you are going to get. Sounds like eating a mysterious flavored candy, it is the decision that you make sometimes.

The matchup between Florida State and Clemson isn't something that was anticipated this offseason, as both teams are being relegated to the ACC Network for a night game. However, it seems like head football coach Mike Norvell is showing getting love from the players on the team.

FSU FOOTBALL RECRUITING

One of the bigger downfalls of the Mike Norvell era in Tallahassee has been his utilization of high school recruiting. There have been instances where it looks like the program would rather grab the "band-aids" of the transfer portal, instead of developing homegrown talent.

Meanwhile, Clemson can tell you that maybe their method needs to be a little bit more balanced themselves. Nonetheless, this is a Florida State recruiting class that ranks as the thirteenth-best in the country, according to 247Sports Composite.

The Seminoles did grab three prospects in the cycle over the past few days such as three-star defensive end Franklin Whitley, three-star defensive end Chris Carbin, and three-star safety/linebacker Daylen Green.

It has not been all rainbows and sunshine, as four-star safety Tedarius Hughes decided to flip his pledge from Florida State to Syracuse. When the Seminoles are not currently having the season that it wants at 4-4, bad news could keep coming.

Well, Florida State had a three-star offensive tackle Aaron Thomas from Phoenix, Arizona, de-commit from Ohio State. This was an opportunity that the fan base thought they could land a legacy recruit, since his father (Eric) played for the Seminoles in the 90s.

However, Thomas pledged to Minnesota, which was extremely confusing to Florida State fans given the need for more offensive tackles and just trenches in general. Hopefully, this is a situation where position coach Herb Hand has other targets that he is pursuing because this is a bit of a head scratcher.
