Florida State had a successful 2023 campaign where it accomplished an undefeated regular season and an ACC Championship. The Seminoles had several contributors announce their intentions to declare for the 2024 NFL Draft.

Two significant contributors that come to mind on the offensive side of the football are wide receivers Keon Coleman and Johnny Wilson. They were what made the offense run and made Jordan Travis' job 100% easier.

Both Coleman and Wilson combined for 91 receptions with 1,275 yards and 13 touchdowns last season. That is a ton of production that needs to be replaced.

As a result, wide receivers coach Ron Dugans put his head down and elected to acquire talent in the position room with picking up four prospects in the 2024 cycle with Camdon Frier, BJ Gibson, Lawayne McCoy, and Elijah Moore. He also decided to pick up two transfers in Alabama's Malik Benson and LSU's Jalen Brown.

As I alluded to in a previous article, I expect Malik Benson to be in contention for the number one option. Plus, I am super high on five-star prospect Hykeem Williams from the 2023 cycle.

However, Florida State head football coach Mike Norvell talked about the position on Monday afternoon to the media. Norvell alluded that veterans such as JaKhi Douglas and Kentron Poitier needed to take another step.

As Florida State fans know, Douglas was massive in the Seminoles' victory over the Pittsburgh Panthers when the offense was missing both Wilson and Coleman. The Louisiana native recorded six receptions for 115 yards. The former four-star prospect always seems to come up in the clutch when the Seminoles need him the most but he has not been the most consistent in a game-to-game basis.

As for Poitier, Florida State's coaching staff has been waiting for him to take the next step in his development. The big-bodied only recorded six receptions for 136 yards. 2023 was supposed to be a huge season for Poitier but injuries derailed his campaign. This is his final season, so it is "now or never".
