Where will former FSU WR Keon Coleman be selected in the 2024 NFL Draft?
The first round of the 2024 NFL Draft will be taking place in Detroit, Michigan tonight at 8:00 PM EST. This is an opportunity where several highly-touted prospects will be hoping to hear their name called by an NFL franchise to change their lives forever.
As it relates to the Florida State Seminoles, they had a successful 2023 campaign which included an undefeated regular season and a conference championship. There were several contributors that were big reasons for their accomplishments.
As we know, defensive end Jared Verse will most likely be a first-round selection as the former Albany transfer accumulated over 18 sacks during his two seasons in Tallahassee. There were times where he was virtually unblockable.
The defensive end spot is a premier position that can singlehandedly change the outcome of a contest because they can alter an offense and ruin their game plans. The Seminoles have had the luxury of successful pass rushers over the years with Jermaine Johnson II, Keir Thomas, and others.
However, two other players could sneak in the first round of the draft tonight in defensive tackle Braden Fiske and wide receiver Keon Coleman. Fiske has absolutely dominated the pre-draft process with also adding his performance versus the Louisville Cardinals in the ACC Championship Game.
As for Coleman, we understand how talented he is with his catch radius. However, he struggled at the NFL Scouting Combine where he ran a 4.61 40-yard dash. The former Michigan State transfer looks to prove that his game speed is most important when evaluating his skill set.
According to a report from Bleacher Report NFL Inside Jordan Schultz, Keon Coleman is considered as a first-round sleeper in tonight's start of the 2024 NFL Draft.
This would be great to see Coleman sneak into the first round after originally thinking that he could be considered a potential top-twenty pick before the NFL Scouting Combine. While I understand that NFL teams focus on the drills, there has to be a point where they turn on the film and see how productive he truly is.
