What could DJ Uiagalelei led offense look like at FSU?
By Kelvin Hunt
When it comes to how the FSU football offense could look in 2024 without Jordan Travis, many FSU fans seem to be taking a wait-and-see approach. The presumed starting QB will be DJ Uiagalelei, who fans know from his days at Clemson. Uiagalelei transferred from Clemson to Oregon State for the 2023 season and had a respectable year in an offense that was better than most give it credit. How much different will the FSU offense look if Uiagalelei is the starter? It's not exactly apples to apples because of personnel and scheme differences, but it's worth looking at. Here are the stats for the FSU offense overall in 2022 and 2023.
2022 FSU | 2023 FSU |
---|---|
36.1 PPG | 34.6 PPG |
6.96 YPP | 6.27 YPP |
5.47 YPC | 4.54 YPC |
3rd Down Conversions-51.19% | 3rd Down Conversions-36.26% |
Red Zone TD%-69.70 | Red Zone TD %-60% |
The 2023 numbers include Jordan Travis missing the last three games, which skew things a bit. However, the rushing numbers, third down conversions, and red zone touchdown percentages were not as good as the previous year before Jordan Travis got hurt.
