OFFENSIVE TACKLE

Florida State football fans understand how well offensive coordinator/offensive line coach Alex Atkins recruits. He relates very well with high school recruits. During the 2024 recruiting cycle, he secured four prospects with four-star Manassee Itete, four-star Jonathan Daniels, three-star Tye Hylton, and three-star Jayden Todd.

While Atkins has done a tremendous job with acquiring talent within the position group, he has not utilized many of his high school recruits in the rotation. He has grabbed veteran players from the transfer portal instead. The only recruit that has played meaningful snaps has been Robert Scott Jr., who has played since he arrived in Tallahassee as a freshman.

This could be an opportunity for homegrown players such as Lucas Simmons, Julian Armella, and/or Jaylen Early to get involved. Nonetheless, elite offensive tackles in recruiting are difficult to find because every major college football program wants to find the protector for their signal callers.

Five-star Solomon Thomas is committed to Florida State, but I believe that he will project as an offensive guard at the collegiate level. I think that the Seminoles will need to get at least two offensive tackles this cycle. Targets include four-star Cortez Smith, four-star Ziyare Addison, and four-star Carde Smith.
