Positions that the Seminoles need to go after in the transfer portal
LINEBACKER
Florida State got a huge boost this offseason when veteran linebacker DJ Lundy elected to return for his senior season with the Seminoles instead of transferring to head football coach Deion Sanders and Colorado.
This is not to say that Lundy will magically replace the likes of redshirt seniors Kalen DeLoach and Tatum Bethune who graduated from the program and are now on to the NFL. However, the redshirt senior does effectively stop the run.
The biggest question mark about everything is who will the Seminoles pair alongside Lundy? Sophomores such as Omar Graham Jr., Blake Nichelson, Shawn Murphy, Justin Cryer, and DeMarco Ward are getting praise from head football coach Mike Norvell.
However, Florida State typically runs a 4-2-5 defensive scheme where it utilizes two linebackers who have a lot of responsibility with run fits. They even need three on the field if they need to effectively go downhill. Can you get production from two other linebackers in the group?
This is where I think adding another veteran to the position could be beneficial.
