Outlook of Florida State 2025 football recruiting efforts after Memphis loss
Florida State football lost to Memphis on Saturday afternoon in the friendly confines of Doak Campbell Stadium by a score of 20-12. The Seminoles are in a downward spiral with a 0-3 record with losses to Georgia Tech, Boston College, and now Memphis.
Failures this season have continued to add up after being selected in the preseason to win the conference and have an over/under win total of 9.5 (which the under already cashed through three games).
This is the reality of the fifth season of the Mike Norvell era which is the possibility of having three losing seasons in five years. Recruiting has already been well-documented and the program seems to rely on the transfer portal quite a bit.
The narrative this season is that the Seminoles have done well in the transfer portal and connected on a high amount of transfers. That seemed to mask the overall issues of this team of a lack of recruiting efforts with positions such as quarterback (I like Glenn, Kromenhoek, and Jones Jr. if he signs), wide receiver, offensive line, defensive line, linebacker, and safety.
Florida State ranks as the 34th-best recruiting class in the 2025 cycle. The program has already lost the pledges of four-star defensive end Javion Hilson and four-star defensive tackle Myron Charles which are two prospects that the Seminoles could not afford to lose.
I think it will get worse for the Seminoles recruiting-wise. However, the program will be fine as they will get prospects to come into the university. They only have eleven prospects pledged to the program, but I would expect Florida State to get twenty recruits (at least) in the class.
Look at programs such as Alabama, Georgia, and Ohio State, among others. They bring up pieces from the transfer portal but the foundation on their rosters is from the recruiting trail. Opposing teams are recruiting against Florida State and the Seminoles taking loss after loss and could lose even more prospects.
One committed prospect who has continued to express belief in Florida State is four-star interior offensive lineman Peyton Joseph from Houston County High School in Warner Robins, Georgia even after the Seminoles' 0-3 start.
This is something that a ton of Seminole fans are missing. This Florida State football team is still unconquered. Changes need to be made. However, the Seminole spirit will never die. I know that recruiting is ever-changing, but Joseph continues to remain confident in head football coach Mike Norvell and the Seminoles.
This should be an interesting next few weeks for Florida State recruiting.
