Florida State football will be heading to Jacksonville, Florida to conduct practice for a few days. The Seminoles' coaching staff utilize this opportunity for their players to be in an unfamiliar environment to prepare themselves for the upcoming season.

I personally love the idea because it will help them for going to play at places such as Ireland (Georgia Tech season opener), going on the road to SMU, and even a sleepy Friday road kickoff versus Duke.

This 2024 squad has a ton of newcomers that the Seminoles added via the transfer portal and recruiting trail. While I do believe that Florida State has the appropriate depth to be successful and veteran leaders that would calm nerves in hostile situations.

Head football coach Mike Norvell knows that the Jacksonville practices could do well for the squad. Over the last couple of practices, the offense has been described as "sloppy". That is a bit concerning since the season opener is almost two weeks away.

The wide receiver position is a question mark considering that veterans such as Keon Coleman and Johnny Wilson navigated over to the NFL. I realize that Florida State added Alabama's Malik Benson and LSU's Jalen Brown via the transfer portal.

I also think that Benson will be the number-one playmaking option for the Seminoles this upcoming season. However, the bigger question is who will emerge as the number-two choice?

We have heard a ton about the emergence of true freshman wide receiver Elijah Moore through fall camp. However, he is a summer enrollee and it could be a lot of pressure to put on a true freshman.

One player that I want to see improve and be more consistent in the Jacksonville practices is sophomore wide receiver Hykeem Williams. The former five-star prospect was someone that the Seminoles' coaching staff were so excited about.

Williams only had 80 receiving yards and one touchdown in 2023. He battled injuries and couldn't get the necessary consistency to be on the field. He has displayed flashes through the spring, summer, and now fall. However, he has not been the model of consistency.

The number-two wide receiver spot is wide open, and I would love to see Williams put in another gear for the Jacksonville practices. I cannot wait to see his development continue to blossom.
