FSU Pitching and Defense Solid

Pitching and defense go hand-in-hand, and both played vital roles in FSU pulling off the series sweep. The Noles only committed one error all series, and different pitchers made some key contributions in all three games. Freshman Ashtyn Danley continues to develop, pitching eight innings, allowing only ONE walk, four strikeouts, and seven hits. Makenna Reid pitched in all three games, going six innings and allowing only ONE walk.

She struck out six, allowed five hits, and four earned runs. Freshman Mimi Gooden earned her second win, pitching 3.1 innings, allowing three hits, no walks, and zero runs. She was efficient with her pitches, only throwing 34 in her lone appearance. FSU pitching allowed three home runs in the series, but the key was not issuing as many walks as usual. FSU didn't have to overly rely on Makenna Reid or Danley in the series, which preserves their arms but allows others to contribute.
