FSU football: Will Charles Lester III sign as a Nole during the Early Signing Period?
FSU football has had a phenomenal recruiting haul in the 2024 cycle where the Seminoles rank as the third-best class, according to 247Sports Composite rankings.
However, the coaching staff is still attempting to put the final touches on this class in terms of keeping committed prospects in the fold, flipping recruits from other institutions, and persuading uncommitted players to Florida State.
Unfortunately, recruiting is an unpredictable game involving teenagers making the most difficult decisions of their lifetimes. FSU fans have suffered from PTSD during the 2022 cycle when five-star defensive back commit Travis Hunter elected to flip his pledge from Florida State to Jackson State on Early Signing Day.
Fast forward to the 2024 cycle, five-star cornerback Charles Lester III from Venice (FL) has been committed to the Seminoles since July. However, during the initial stages leading up to his commitment date, Colorado was a team that was being monitored before Lester III ultimately chose Florida State.
Florida State head football coach Mike Norvell, defensive coordinator Adam Fuller, and defensive backs coach Patrick Surtain Sr. conducted an in-home visit with the talented prospect last week.
On Monday morning, Lester III went to social media and stated that his National Letter of Intent has arrived, but he did not indicate which school it was.
These prospects have the opportunity of a lifetime where they can make a difference for themselves and their loved ones. Recruiting can be unpredictable, but it is their moment that can create lasting memories. For what it is worth, first-year defensive backs coach Patrick Surtain Sr. has worked relentlessly in developing the relationship with Lester III and making him feel like a priority.
We at ChopChat wish Charles Lester III nothing but the best as he prepares to sign with the college of his choice. We certainly hope that the talented prospect will select to suit up in the garnet and gold for the next three to four years.
