Third Down Conversion Defense

If you notice, all of these aspects tie into one another. If the FSU defense can contain Haynes King. If they have great eye discipline and avoid missing a ton of tackles. If have success in limiting Georgia Tech on first and second down? It'll put the FSU defense in a great position to get off the field on third down. Georgia Tech converted 43 percent of its third-down opportunities in 2023. However, in the games they lost? Georgia Tech converted 46 percent, 55 percent, 25 percent, 27 percent, 37 percent, and 18 percent.

Part of those numbers highlight how bad Georgia Tech's defense was last year. The other part shows Georgia Tech's offense struggled to convert against really good defenses in 2023. They return a lot of experience and continuity, and they've had all offseason to prepare for FSU. However, FSU defensive coordinator Adam Fuller spent the last two offseasons preparing for a better and more talented offense in LSU. FSU held LSU to 30 percent on third downs last year. If they can get anywhere in that ballpark Saturday afternoon it'll be a great day for the Noles.
