FSU football: Top 10 most important wins in Mike Norvell era
By Kelvin Hunt
Louisville 2022
This game tends to get lost in the shuffle when it comes to importance, but I can assure you this was a huge win for a couple of reasons. FSU had just beaten LSU the week before on a blocked extra-point attempt. Many people thought it was a fluke win and a loss against Louisville the following week would have thrown gasoline all over that sentiment. FSU's Jordan Travis and Jared Verse were injured early in the Louisville game. It was a road game on a Friday night, where the environment can be hostile.
FSU was down 21-14 at halftime, with no Jordan Travis, and an unproven Tate Rodemaker at quarterback. The Noles scored a touchdown on their first possession to tie the game 21-21, and provided a sense of confidence for the team overall. Tate Rodemaker hooked up with Johnny Wilson for two touchdowns, and the FSU defense turned Louisville away on their final two possessions for a 35-31 win. If FSU doesn't win this game, they likely don't win 10 games overall, and the trajectory of the program isn't the same after a big win over LSU.
