FSU football: Top 10 best transfer portal additions in portal era
By Kelvin Hunt
Keon Coleman
The No. 6 player on the list is Michigan State wide receiver Keon Coleman. I know some folks probably expected Coleman to be higher on this list, but I'm looking at the overall impact. Like Gibbon, Coleman didn't join the program until after spring camp concluded before the 2023 season. It's usually difficult for receivers to make a large impact after transferring if they don't experience spring camp. However, Coleman is insanely talented and a film junkie. He led the team in receptions (50), receiving yards (658), and touchdowns (11). Coleman was also excellent on special teams, averaging 12 yards per punt return and changing a couple of games with monster punt returns.
I would have put Coleman higher if he was FSU more than one year and didn't disappear in a few games after sustaining his injury. Much like Jaheim Bell, Coleman played much of the latter part of the season hurt. That injury and the Jordan Travis injury likely impacted his numbers. Coleman was First Team All-ACC in 2023 and a second round selection of the Buffalo Bills in the 2024 NFL Draft.
