Parting Thoughts

Jones has done the right thing by letting the coaching staff know when he's visiting other schools. He brought family with him on his official visit and said they loved it. He said they know where he stands in his post-visit interview linked on the first slide of this article. However, we saw another commit(KJ Bolden) say and do the same things in the last recruiting cycle, only to de-commit and sign elsewhere. I understand it from a high school recruit standpoint because it's an experience they have earned and they should try to get everything they can get.

However, the coaching staff learned something from the Chris Parson and KJ Bolden situations as well. It's better to depart ways now than to continue to pour resources into a high schooler's recruitment only to see them go elsewhere. If Jones de-commits, it'll likely be soon and we'll at least have clarity on the situation without it dragging into the season. From a perception standpoint, it doesn't look crazy because you have a higher-ranked commit in the 2026 class and two guys who ranked higher already on the roster.
