2026 Commitment Impact

It's similar to the Chris Parson situation because I don't think FSU coaches are worried about what Jones ultimately decides. They have already put in work on the 2026 recruiting cycle, landing a commitment from blue-chip QB Brady Smigiel, who visited FSU the same weekend Jones took his official visit. I don't think that was by coincidence. It seems like a clear message to Jones. I believe they want him in the class, but it sends the message we're good at the position whether you stick or not. Smigiel ranks much higher than Jones at the same stage in their development and has better high school stats overall from a passing standpoint.

I'm all for recruits enjoying the process, but quarterbacks are often considered the centerpiece of recruiting classes and responsible for helping the coaching staff recruit other quality players to join. Here's the thing, top wide receivers haven't exactly been knocking the door down to commit to FSU with Jones committed. His high school teammate, five-star Jame Ffrench isn't even on FSU's radar anymore. To make matters worse, Jones said he was on his official visit to help recruit, but how can that be if you won't state you're recruitment is shut down?
