FSU football: Ranking the top 10 WORST fanbases in the ACC
By Kelvin Hunt
Virginia Tech Hokies
The Virginia Tech Hokies make the list. It's a team that's been irrelevant since the early days of joining the ACC under Frank Beamer. That program has toiled in mediocrity since, but their fans seem to believe they are some sleeping giant waiting to awaken from a deep hibernation. Their claim to fame lately is beating FSU in Tallahassee in the first game of the Willie Taggart era. In hindsight, that wasn't saying much, but they did quell many expectations that night and provided a foreshadowing of things to come for FSU fans.
I've gotten into it with several VT fans who perceive their value to the ACC as something it's not. For some reason, they believe they belong with FSU and Clemson as a valued program the SEC or B1G should want. However, that's not the case. Their value is about as overrated as their Enter Sandman entrance for home games. FSU holds a 24-13-1 edge in the series, with 10 wins before Bobby Bowden took over at FSU. FSU has owned VA Tech and can always pull the win over them card in the National Championship game in 1999.
