Florida State does not have any wide receiver prospects committed in their 2025 recruiting class. However, the coaching staff is looking to add talented options to its rotation. One prospect to monitor is five-star Kaliq Lockett from Sachse, Texas.

We at ChopChat decided to conduct a Q&A with the talented playmaker out of Texas.

Q: You had a breakout junior season where you had over 60 receptions with 1,300 yards and 13 touchdowns. As you navigate to your senior season, what are you hoping to improve upon with your game?

A: "I'm still mashing on the gas and always looking to improve my game. I definitely improved on my speed and continued adding to my deep ball skills. I'm definitely working on getting in and out of breaks quicker and more efficiently."

Q: When you took a visit to Florida State this spring, how was the trip? Did anything stand out to you?

A: "It definitely took me by surprise. I didn't know I was going to like it as much as I did. What stood out was getting some 1-on-1 time with Coach Norvell and Coach Dugans. They keep it 100 with me."

Q: What has your relationship been like with wide receivers coach Ron Dugans?

A: "Me and Coach Dugans have a great relationship. He doesn't take BS and doesn't put up with it. He just had Johnny Wilson and Keon Coleman that just went to the draft."

Q: You got an official visit coming up with Florida State on the weekend of June 14th. Are you looking forward to seeing anything on the visit?

A: "I'm definitely looking forward to seeing the city of Tallahassee a little bit more and getting to talk to some more of the players on the campus."

Q: As you wind down your recruitment, what are some factors that you are looking for in the school that you will be committing to?

A: "It is definitely a family feel because when I go off to whatever college I know that it is tough to leave my family so I need a second home to run to when things get rough."

We appreciate Kaliq taking the time out of his day to answer our questions.
