No. 3

NC State (9-4, 6-2 ACC)

NC State almost lost to UConn in their 2023 season opener and got smoked by Notre Dame in the second game. The Wolfpack was 4-3 going into a stretch with Clemson, Miami, Wake Forest, Virginia Tech, and North Carolina. NC State won all five of those contests before losing the Pop-Tarts Bowl against Kansas State. NC State is a team that never recruits at a high level but somehow manages to win at least eight games every year under Dave Doeren.

However, they will be tested early in the 2024 season. They face Tennessee in their second game and travel to Clemson in the fourth game. If they can survive that gauntlet, it looks like they could cruise to another season of at least eight wins. They never win anything of substance, but I guess that's something to hang their hats on.
