FSU football: Offensive issues are mostly lack of execution and decision-making

Decision Making

The decision-making part of the offense is killing FSU as well. The decision not to take wide-open check-downs on first or second down puts the FSU offense behind the chains. DJ Uiagalelei's not processing things quickly enough to find the open guys is a problem. FSU has struggled to run counter in the first two games, and Mike Norvell's decision to keep going to it is a problem. The problem is the players can't execute the proper blocks needed for it to be a big gain like in years past.

The other frustrating part of the offense is DJ Uiagalelei's decisions to throw passes well short of the first down markers on third down. Why is that even an option? There was a play against Boston College play, where it was 3rd and 7, and he threw a pass to Lawrance Toafili that caught six yards short of the first down marker with a defender draped over him. What are we doing? That gives FSU no shot to convert and move the chains.
