The Linebackers

"I thought DJ Lundy looks like we need him to look. He was flying all over the field. Saw physical plays. He was working in his communication."

"I think that you look at that next group of guys that are trying to really emerge and put themselves in position whether it's Blake Nichelson, Justin Cryer, Shawn Murphy, and then some of those young guys, whether it is Demarco Ward..., that's a fun group to see compete because they are talented, they have ability to run."

"It's just the finer details like communication, keeping their eyes where they are supposed to be, but that group has been one of the pleasant surprises for me throughout these early practices because they are good fits, they are good with their communication, they are still working on some of the elements of the coverages, but that can all be expected here early."

"I would say that their progression is a little bit further ahead of where I might have even expected of where they are. I am excited about what that group is going to continue to develop to be."

Thoughts

That's what I was hoping to hear from this young group since it was the one with arguably the most questions going into spring camp. It was good to see Mike Norvell mention DJ Lundy as a standout, but I noticed he didn't mention Shawn Murphy for any specific thing he did during the scrimmage. I was hoping he would, so that tells me he has a lot more work to do.
