Con-Perception

FSU has way more history with the SEC than the B1G. The Noles have only played 44 games against B1G schools(counting games from when Maryland was in the ACC) in its history, but well over 150+ games against SEC teams. The Noles have a winning record against both conferences, but there's some perception that FSU couldn't cut it in the SEC for some reason. The Florida Gators have been in the SEC for years and fared fine, and while they generally have more resources than the Noles because they've been around far longer, FSU has held its own against the Gators over the past 40 years.

However, FSU joining the SEC feels more like joining the evil empire due to how things went down with the College Football Playoff snub. I don't care what you think you know, but the SEC is why the Noles were not in the top four teams. Jordan Travis getting hurt was all they needed to make it easier to pull those levers to make the snub happen. If FSU joined the B1G, there's no pressure really, because they've beaten Michigan in the last decade and never lost to Ohio State, Michigan State, or Indiana, and used to go crazy against Maryland when they were in the ACC. If the Noles joined the SEC and didn't get off to a good start in the first couple of years, it could diminish some of what FSU accomplished in the ACC because that conference is deemed inferior.
