Player Development

Georgia will likely have players opting out for the NFL Draft, and several have already entered the transfer portal. The game will not be a real representation of what the two teams looked like in the regular-season. How does the FSU players opting out impact the team? Obviously, it means younger players will have to step in and take reps at practice, which is a good thing towards building depth and preparing for what's to come in 2024. Those extra practices mean a great deal in regards to player development. It's players on both sides of the ball. Hykeem Williams, Destyn Hill, Blake Nichelson, Omar Graham Jr., Brock Glenn, Caziah Holmes, Samuel Singleton, Goldie Lawrence, and others.

These practices also provide the coaching staff with more time to evaluate these players and determine if they'll need additional players from the transfer portal before the spring semester begins. I've written about the benefits of transfer portal guys enrolling in the spring and how that impacts their ability to contribute at a quicker rate. These evaluations could be a reason the coaching staff hasnt' been so quick to jump on every guy that's entered the portal, along with waiting to see who from the roster plans to enter.
