FOUR-STAR S DARRELL JOHNSON

Florida State defensive backs coach Patrick Surtain Sr. has certainly pulled his weight as a recruiter with signing four highly-touted prospects in the 2024 recruiting cycle with four-stars Charles Lester III, Jamari Howard, Cai Bates, and Ricky Knight III.

While there have not been any defensive backs committed in the 2025 recruiting cycle, the coaching staff wants to acquire more talent at the position. One target to monitor is four-star safety Darrell Johnson from Eastman (GA). While Johnson is listed as a linebacker in some recruiting databases, the Seminoles are recruiting him as a defensive back.

The Eastman (GA) native has made two visits to Florida State recently back on October 21st and December 16th. He has even received a crystal ball in favor of the Seminoles. He is considered as the 32nd-best prospect in the 2025 cycle, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings.

If the coaching staff somehow can land Johnson, that would be massive for the program's depth at the safety position.
