STRENGTHS

Cam Ward is a physical specimen, who many compare to former FSU quarterback Jordan Travis. While there are some similarities to their games, they are different players. Ward is about 10-15 pounds larger and not quite as shifty in tight spaces. However, he is mobile and can move in the pocket and evade pressure at times. Ward covers a lot of ground in the open field as a runner. He's got a lightning fast release with a stronger arm than Travis, and can make all the throws accurately when given time. He can make throws accurately while rolling out, which is something DJ Uiagalelei struggles with.

He averaged 40 pass attempts and over 300 passing yards per game in 2023. He averaged 10 rushing attempts per game, which is more than Jordan Travis. It appears he would be more durable than Travis as a runner in Mike Norvell's offense. He averaged 40 pass attempts and over 300 passing yards per game in 2023. FSU's offensive line hasn't been the best at run blocking, and having the threat of the QB run would help open up things quite a bit in 2024. This stat shows he's willing and able to run. The addition of Cam Ward likely attracts a higher-quality players from the transfer portal.
