FSU football: 5 offensive players who need more opportunities against Boston College
By Kelvin Hunt
I wrote about five defensive players I wanted to see more of in the upcoming Boston College game earlier. The defense wasn't great, and they couldn't get a stop when it mattered the most. However, they gave the offense a couple of chances to take the lead in the third quarter to no avail. My colleague Taylor Devers pointed out some easy fixes for the defense, as many of their issues revolved around missed tackles, poor angles, and sheer want to. However, it was the offense that deserved most of the blame for the loss. No team will beat many other teams, only scoring 21 points, six of which were on 50+ yard field goals.
The FSU offense had two chances to take the lead or build a two-touchdown lead in the third quarter. They ran 12 plays for 33 yards and two punts. It wasn't until the final possession that they put together a touchdown scoring drive on 15 plays for 84 yards. They nearly doubled their yards per-play output from the previous two drives. Some of it was play-calling, but some was the decision to get the ball to their playmakers instead of trying to fit a peg into a square hole. Here are five offensive players who need more opportunities against Boston College.
