FSU football: 5 major takeaways from 2024 Seminole Showcase (spring game)

DJ Uiagalelei Showed Lots Of Promise
I'm going to say it now. DJ Uiagalelei is going to put up some monster stats in Mike Norvell's offense this year. He already looks fairly comfortable in the offense and made several nice throws on the day, including several drops by wide receivers. He showed his ability to push the ball vertically, and the ability to hit some intermediate throws, including not throwing laser beams all the time. The latter is something he struggled with earlier in his career.
Many folks don't realize it, but Oregon State had the No. 11 offense nationally with Uiagalelei at quarterback, according to FEI advanced metrics last season. That was without the level of talent he has access to at FSU, and I'd take FSU's offensive coaching staff over what he had at Oregon State every day of the week. Uiagalelei doesn't take many sacks and the FSU offensive line did a solid job limiting those last season, along with tackle for a loss. I already wrote I thought FSU's offense would be better than last year. I feel even more confident now.
