Has Proven He Can Win At A High Level at FSU

When Mike Norvell took the FSU job in December 2019 there were a lot of questions. He had no real recruiting ties to the state of Florida. He hadn't been head coach at a major program before, and there was a lot of ammunition for opposing teams to use against him based on what the FSU program had looked like in the years before his hire. While FSU hasn't looked great through two games, he's already proven can rebuild a program from the ashes. He's developed recruiting relationships and potential hires have watched him in action and how he handles a staff.

As I mentioned, he'll need to make some staff changes after this season. However, Mike Norvell is in a much stronger position than when he took the FSU job in 2019. He's proven he can take FSU back to the top with back-to-back top-10 finishes in 2022-23. Staff members have left his staff and gotten promotions elsewhere, and FSU pays competitively. All of these aspects point ways he can turn things around again in the future, and the hole isn't as deep as it was when he took the job.
