Mike Norvell will turn 43 years old in a month and is still one of the youngest head coaches at a major football program nationally. However, his near five years at FSU looked to have aged him a decade after inheriting one of the worst situations in modern college football. He inherited a program with gaping holes on its roster, a terrible culture, and a global pandemic that slowed the staff's ability to build trust and to put their blueprints on the program. Mike Norvell and the staff overcame all that to go 13-0.

They won an ACC Championship and earned a spot in the College Football Playoff before getting snubbed. Mike Norvell often gets high praise from high school recruits, and it's likely because he's younger. If Mike Norvell were someone in his 50s or older, I'd be much less confident in his ability to turn this thing around for a second time. Now, he will have to make some staff changes after this season because narratives he fought so hard to overcome can be sold by opposing teams again. Some folks may question if he'll make those changes, but how the rest of this season goes will likely dictate what that scale looks like.
