FSU football: 5 MAJOR keys to defeating Boston College Eagles
By Kelvin Hunt
Limit Boston College's Run Game
The game plan is always to stop the running game of opponents for Adam Fuller. However, it's all about selling out to stop the run against Boston College. If Thomas Castellanos throws for 300+ yards and multiple touchdowns as a drop-back passer, so be it. If that's the case, this defense isn't anywhere near as good as we thought anyway. Last year, Boston College was 8 of 19 on third downs because they found success on early downs. They also went for and converted 4 of 5 fourth downs because they were always in the short yard and distance.
Boston College has a different coach, so he may not be as aggressive on fourth down as they were last year. However, Boston College's willingness to decide they were in four-down territory was another reason they made it a game late. FSU can avoid this problem by stopping the run and forcing Boston College to put the ball in the air more than they want. FSU was the top passing defense last year and has three returners from last year's team. FSU will face better quarterbacks and receivers later in the season, so It's time to put them to the test to see how they stack up.
