Punter

Some fans may laugh at this one, but I can assure you having a good to great punter is essential. Alex Mastramanno has been outstanding for the past four seasons and will return for his final season in 2024. Mastramanno capped off his 2023 campaign ranked No. 3 nationally in punting net yards (43.28) while averaging a career-best 45.5 yards per punt, good for No. 17 nationally. The Noles have not signed a punter from the high school ranks since Mastramanno signed in the 2020 recruiting cycle.

FSU signed Jake Weinberg in 2024 as a kicker who can punt, but a kicker rarely does both. Ryan Fitzgerald will return in 2024 for his senior season, and Weinberg will likely redshirt while gaining experience and getting used to the pressures of kicking in college. Punting doesn't necessarily produce the same type of pressure, so it's more common for true freshmen to see the field. FSU will lose a good one after this season, and finding a guy who can impact special teams and field position will be paramount.
