Lean On The Run Game, Smaller Receivers Making an Impact

No lie, nearly all of the 2015 offense was Dalvin Cook. He literally carried that team on one leg, rushing for nearly 1,700 yards and 19 touchdowns. He averaged 7.38 yards per carry. That is insane. FSU doesn't have a Dalvin Cook on the 2024 team, but they will lean heavily on the run game in a similar fashion. The 2015 team had three standout receivers: Travis Rudolph, Kermit Whitfield, and Jesus Wilson. The latter two were 5'8" and 5'10" respectively. I expect Malik Benson to be this year's version of Travis Rudolph, with Ja'Khi Douglas and Jaylin Lucas playing roles similar to those smaller receivers.

Dalvin Cook was active in the receiving game, with 24 receptions. Lawrance Toafili will fill that role on this year's team. FSU had a serviceable tight end in Ryan Izzo, but I expect Kyle Morlock to better his production by quite a bit. Rudolph had 59 receptions, Whitfield 57, and Wilson 58, and all had over 600 yards receiving. If FSU gets that type of production from Benson or anyone else, go ahead and ship that another ACC Title to Tallahassee. However, I expect the receiver production in 2024 to be spread around to more than three main guys.
