FSU football: 3 ways 2024 team is similar to 2015, 3 ways they're better
By Kelvin Hunt
Excellent Defense
The 2015 defense was excellent, led by future NFL players Derwin James, Jalen Ramsey, Demarcus Walker, Derrick Nnadi, Josh Sweat, and Terrance Smith. FSU only allowed 17.5 points per game, 3.83 yards per rush, and 4.68 yards per play. Their one Achilles heel was third, and Kelly and the inability to get off the field on third downs. They allowed opposing defenses to convert 39.23 percent of the time. The 2024 team will be anchored by an outstanding defensive line full of future pros like Joshua Farmer, Darrell Jackson, and Patrick Payton.
The secondary will have future pros like Shyheim Brown, AZ Thomas, and Fentrell Cypress. FSU will have a linebacker like DJ Lundy, who won't be a high draft pick but is a veteran presence similar to Terrance Smith. The 2015 defense carried the Noles in a few games and was the last time the Noles recorded a shutout(@ Boston College). No team scored more than 24 points against that defense in the regular season.
