JEREMIAH BYERS BEING THE STARTING RIGHT TACKLE

Florida State football rotated a ton of offensive linemen during Saturday's matchup versus Georgia Tech. Offensive coordinator/offensive line coach Alex Atkins was not able to coach during the game as he is suspended for the first three games of the 2024 season due to recruiting violations.

Assistant coach Gabe Fertitta stepped in during his absence. The Seminoles have a veteran offensive line group filled with talented pieces such as Darius Washington and Maurice Smith.

Washington is slated at the left tackle position and Norvell considers him to be an All-American candidate. He was a Swiss Army Knife where he played center, guard, and tackle. However, the coaching staff wanted him to play where he is most comfortable which was left tackle.

The tackle depth isn't great as veterans Jeremiah Byers and Robert Scott Jr. battled at right tackle. Byers struggled with inconsistencies while Scott Jr. has battled injuries. It seemed like the selection of Byers was the safer option at this time.
