FSU football: 3 things to address during summer months
By Kelvin Hunt
Summer Addition Acclimation
FSU did most of its work in the winter transfer portal session and was relatively quiet in the spring transfer window until recently. The Noles got commitments from former FSU and Colorado defensive back Omarion Cooper and Auburn linebacker Cam Riley. Transfers don't sign with teams, but enroll, and these players should enroll in the summer as long as nothing changes at the last minute. Harvard offensive lineman Jacob Rizy should arrive this summer after committing to the Noles in late January.
FSU coaches prefer their transfers to enroll in the spring to experience spring camp. It offers many positives, which is why most FSU transfers do it and make immediate impacts during the season in year one. Cooper played at FSU for two years, so he's familiar with the scheme and coaching staff, so it won't be too much of a learning curve. However, Riley and Rizy will need to get fast-tracked this summer if they wish to be guys the team can count on in the season. Riley only has one year of eligibility left, and Rizy has two.
