Notre Dame at No. 7

Notre Dame went 10-3 last season, with losses to Louisville, Ohio State, and Clemson. They will have a new starting quarterback, a transfer from Duke who missed half of last season with an ankle injury that took some time away from his spring camp. They lost half their offensive line and will only return five starters from its defense. The Fighting Irish didn't beat a Power 5 team that won 10 games last year. Their best win was against Duke or NC State.

So, I'm struggling to see how the coaches have them ranked so highly. They'll always get the traditional Notre Dame bias we're accustomed to, but when will folks start looking at who they're playing and beating? They don't play any team in the top 20 before hosting FSU in early November. Similar to Michigan last year, they'll start the season top 7 and stay there while playing a bunch of scrub teams. There's no way they should be ahead of FSU.
