FSU football: 3 reasons Noles cover spread, 3 reasons they don't against Georgia Tech

Turnovers
Turnovers aren't something a team wants to bank on when trying to pull the upset. Sure, they want to emphasize to strip the ball when those opportunities present themselves. They want to be in a good position to make a play on the ball in the secondary. However, when they happen, they can be great equalizers for lesser-talented teams. Where those turnovers occur is a big factor too. Georgia Tech had a different defensive coordinator last year, but they excelled at creating turnovers. They created 25, 14 interceptions, and 11 fumbles recovered.
FSU took care of the ball last year, but they have a new quarterback, running back, and several new receivers who'll get the ball. DJ Uiagalelei likely has a good handle on the offense, but it's not uncommon for a receiver to get mixed up on a route when they're new to the offense. Lawrance Toafili had two fumbles lost last year. If Georgia Tech can create a couple of turnovers, it'll rob FSU of opportunities to score and shorten the game for an offense that likes to control the clock with its running game.
