JA'KHI DOUGLAS AS A WIDE RECEIVER

Florida State football is having to replace veteran big-bodied playmakers Johnny Wilson and Keon Coleman is off to the NFL.

The Seminoles added Alabama's Malik Benson and LSU's Jalen Brown to the transfer portal this offseason. However, both options did not perform that well at their previous stops. As a result, it was likely that Benson would be the number-one receiving option since he was the most consistent in camp and then it could be a revolving door as the number-two spot.

The Seminoles needed options to step up. Even though there were not many deep throws downfield. Senior Ja'Khi Douglas stepped up when the offense needed it most. He was consistently catching back-shoulder throws as he had four catches for 55 yards.

He would have had a deep crossing route if DJ Uiagalelei had led him in stride. Nonetheless, it was encouraging to see the veteran shine in the primetime opportunity.
